Earthdance
was founded in 1997, by Australian born Chris Decker who was then living in
London. The first Earthdance helped to raise funds for Tibetan children in the
village of Tadra (and other villages like it) who had lost their families and
dwellings to the Chinese invasion. It was held at 22 locations in 16 countries.
This year, Earthdance was held simultaneously in over 130 cities in 50 countries,
truly embracing the idea of ' think global, act local' as each event raised
funds for humanitarian and/or environmental charities in their area.
From our event here in WA, 40% of door takings $1016 was donated to the Wilderness
Society here in WA (www.wilderness.org.au/regions/wa)
to help preserve our wild country.
